Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey lean or extra-lean
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil canola or avocado

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add oil. Add ground turkey and cook for 6-7 minutes until browned and no longer pink. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
  2. Lower the heat to medium and add minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the cooked turkey, stirring to coat evenly.
  4. Let the mixture simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the turkey.
  5. Stir in green onions and garnish with sesame seeds (optional). Serve over rice, noodles, or in lettuce cups.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
  • You can substitute ground chicken or pork for the turkey.
  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
  • To meal prep, make a larger batch and store in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
